Charley
Brown and Mark Evans started Evans & Brown over twenty years
ago. They modeled Evans & Brown as a modern day atelier in
the tradition of Rubens and David. The focus has always been designing
and painting high quality murals, trompe l'oeil and special effects
for residential and commercial projects.
Evans & Brown is known for its command of classical
technique. Classical technique can be defined as combination of
natural ability with extensive training in the essential traditional
skills and craft of art. Everyone who works in the Evans &
Brown studio must be able to paint like Raphael one day and Rothko
the next. This ability combined with a thorough knowledge of art
history have given them the freedom and versatility to execute
work that is theatrical yet highly sensitive to the meaning and
purpose of each project.
Evans & Brown is a "hands on" operation.
Every project is designed by either Mark Evans or Charley Brown
and is executed by Charley and a small staff of painters who are
accomplished artists in their own right.
Evans & Brown has worked all over the world.
Their work can be seen in projects as diverse as the Pompeiian
style frescos in the American Embassy in Cyprus to the surrealistic
fantasy of the Pan-Pacific Hotel in Yokohama to the 18th century
Italian frescos of the Monadnock Building in San Francisco to
the Forties-style tribute to film production at Sony Entertainment
in Culver City. Several years ago Evans & Brown introduced
a line of printed fabrics, hand made wallcoverings and vinyl wallcoverings
that extend the Evans & Brown sensibility to products that
are available to designers everywhere. |
